Eco Leader:

What do  Google and Wal-Mart have in common with  YouTube , Herman Miller and California Gov.  Schwarzenegger? On Friday, May 21st, executives from those market leading companies joined forces with the Governor and announced the Green Products Innovation Institute at Google Corporate HQ.

The Institute will extend Cradle-to-Cradle Certification to consumer products that pass its chemical safety tests in a way similar to the way LEED standards have become a recognizable standard in the green industry. It will also serve as a marquee effort within California to drive groundwater cleanup of contaminated wells across the state.

Wendy Schmidt, wife of Eric Schmidt (Google CEO) of the Schmidt Family Foundation and the 11th Hour Project, helped contribute funds for the Institute and stated: “We are starting a new industrial revolution.”
